Po absolutoriu na DAMU v roce 1974 nastoupil do plzeňského divadla. Svůj výrazný temperament, podpořený energičností, využívá zvláště v komických rolích nebo v úlohách vyžadujících pobavený a přitom chápavý odstup. Vynikající byl například jako Kalafuna ve Strakonickém dudákovi, David v komedii David a Goliáš nebo Pantalone ve Lháři. Moudrou či k moudrosti (třeba i bizarní) směřující postavou byl v jeho podání Pavel Kolínský v Paličově dceři, Bláha v Našich furiantech, Chromý bratr Miloš v Nulách a především Antonín Důra v dramatizaci Rozmarné léto. Tuto Vančurovu prózu, podobně jako texty Bohumila Hrabala, Oty Pavla a Ladislava Smočka, ztvárnil ve vlastní interpretaci jako divadlo jednoho herce. Za svou citlivou, jímavou inscenaci Hrabalova Městečka, kde se zastavil čas získal ocenění Českého literárního fondu. Exceloval v postavě Raucha v inscenaci Kazimír a Karolína. V letošní sezóně ho můžeme vidět ve vynikající formě jako Zdravého v Neapolské chorobě, svou okouzlující bodrostí vás pobaví coby příležitostný řezník a dělník Myclík v Postřižinách, jako dr. Finache v Brouku v hlavě, nebo v postavě Prefekta v inscenaci Každý má svou pravdu. Dlouhá léta působil také jako tajemník činohry a asistent režie.
