Absolvent Konzervatoře v Plzni, oboru klavír, se zajímal o hudební divadlo od začátku své umělecké kariéry. V roce 1983 začal pracovat v Divadle J. K. Tyla v Plzni jako korepetitor baletu, po dvou letech už dirigoval v souboru operety. Zde se během tří desetiletí podílel na vzniku více než stovky inscenací a zapsal se mezi nejvýznamnější hudební tvůrce tohoto tělesa. Stal se respektovaným odborníkem v oblasti zábavněhudebního divadla a jako takový se pohostinsky uplatnil i na dalších scénách, mimo jiné se podílel na hudebním nastudování českých premiér muzikálů superlativů Cats a Fantom opery v Praze.
